The recurring theme running throughout my work is that of dreams and memories. This piece deals more with what we take back from a dream and how it affects our consciousness.

‘The Gift’: the cryptic message we sometimes take back from a dream, its like a secret from a divine place that is given as a gift, a secret that has become obscured in the moments after waking.

I use a lot of metal and gold leaf in my work, it reflects light differently to the other materials, lending a mystical element to the paintings. With this piece I decided to use metal leaf for the whole background; the figure then has an aura of stepping out from another realm into the world of reality: our waking world.
